| About the Cover: The Downtowner’s 21st anniversary has dawned! Photographer John Henry woke up to a full moon one morning in October and took off to do what he does best. Thanks to Bert Robinson IV at G.A. Robinson Land Company, John had access to a bean field in Arkansas to shoot this east-facing photo across the Mississippi River. This and other photography are on display at the Main Street Mall Beautification Project’s art show, southeast corner of Main and Union, through February: John Henry Photography at facebook.com, email: johnhenry13@live.com. |

2011 Photo Contest Winners: Seasonally Memphis
In Our DNA: The Downtown Neighborhood Association started 31 years ago with the “beating of a drum” and has marched to that pulse ever since.
Discovery901: Shelby Foote Collection: In spring 2011, copious amounts of books, notes, newspaper clippings, maps, photos, and other marginalia were boxed up and shipped to their permanent home at Rhodes College.
My 2 Cents: Willy Bearden:
Memphis author and filmmaker
Now Serving: S.O.B. (South of Beale): Sonova … niche! The city’s first gastropub combines upper-scale bar food, specialty drinks, and a touch of sass.
